Question about adding clue links...

From: Ruthann aka Mirkwood (mirkwood3@aol.com) | Date: 2000-09-06 11:28:36 UTC
Hi,

I am in the midst of creating an entire Web site devoted to
letterboxing that will house the clues to the boxes I am placing
(it's not quite ready yet). Should I ask for the entire site to be
added for Michigan, or should I provide the clues separately? What's
the best way?

Thanks!
Ruthann

Wonderful, Mirkwood! The more websites, the better. There are no
hard/fast rules about posting, but here is what most people do:

-Send your clues to this list for folks to see and maybe print out
and save. Include the link to your site so people will be reminded
where it is, visit it, and hopefully bookmark it so they can find
their way back easily and fluff up your "hits".
-One of the geeky webmasters (John I think for Michigan?) will see
the clues on this list and then hook your new box into the LBNA
Michigan map.
-Think about maybe joining the "webring" you'll see at the bottom of
many of our pages: it makes it easy for people to surf letterboxing
sites without having to use yahoo.

Fellow members, did I forget anything?

[John De Wolf] You could also use your website address after your signature (like Randy does), or each clue page could link back to your homepage as a index page (as Randy, JayD, I and amny others do)[John De Wolf] ,  But I do think each clue is best on a separate page so it can be individually accessed from the main map.  But, then again JayD and Squirrel have more than one clue on each of their pages and that works fine too.  See, we don't really like rules and the diversity of webpages and clues, etc. adds to the whole thing IMO.

Jay D, You pretty much hit it on the head.... Mirkwood, It really helps
us "LB geeks, web-masters, techno-geeks" when you have your own site. We
just update the maps and link it to your site and instructions.. and it
looks nicer then just a link to your email on the eGroup..... Have fun

Ruthann,

I think either way will work fine. Just set up your site the way you
like it best, and we will put in the link. I would think that if all
your clues were clearly accessible from your home page, we would just
link to it.

Michigan is lucky that the forest is awakening!
